How to Order Catering Without the Stress
Office breakfast for 30? Team lunch? We've handled hundreds of events. Here's exactly what to order, how early to book, and what people always forget.
Start With a Headcount (and Add 10%)
The most common catering mistake is ordering for exactly the number of people you have. People always eat more than expected at a breakfast spread — especially when the food is good. Add 10% to your headcount, minimum.
The Crowd-Pleaser Breakfast Order
For a group breakfast, the formula that works every time:
- Bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches on assorted bagels — order 1.25 per person
- A fruit platter or pastry basket on the side
- Coffee service if you need it
- A few vegetarian options (cream cheese and veggie on bagels)
This covers 95% of any group. It's simple, filling, and it photographs well if you need to impress someone.
How Far Ahead to Order
For groups under 20: 24 hours is fine.
For groups of 20–50: 48 hours notice, minimum.
For 50+: reach out at least 3–4 days ahead so we can plan accordingly.
Same-day large orders sometimes happen — call us directly and we'll do our best — but don't count on it.
What People Always Forget
- Napkins and serving utensils (we include them, but confirm)
- Dietary restrictions — always ask your group beforehand
- Hot vs. room temp — breakfast sandwiches are best fresh
- Pickup vs. delivery — confirm logistics in advance
